“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
When I joined Wavemakers, I had a simple but powerful goal: to regain balance, build strength, and find joy in movement again. I wanted to feel strong and capable—not just in the pool, but in my everyday life. Walking my dogs, dancing, traveling—I wanted to do it all with ease and confidence.
After just 30 days with the Kickstart Guide to Pain-Free Movement, Strength, and Flexibility, I can honestly say I’ve come a long way.
Small Steps, Big Changes

Looking back, I’ve completed six workouts and noticed a shift—not just in my body, but in my mindset. My balance is better, my reach is extending, and most importantly, I feel like I’m making real progress.
These workouts aren’t just exercises; they’re stepping stones to the life I want to live.
Discovering the Power of Audio Workouts
At first, I wasn’t sure about audio-only workouts. I thought I needed to watch a screen to keep up. But now? I love them.
With no distractions, I’m fully tuned into how my body moves and what feels good. Each workout is a chance to connect with my body in a new way. Here’s what stood out:
- Speed Play Foundations – The slower movements help me feel more in control. I’ve done this one twice already!
- Lower Body Function – I’m gaining confidence in following verbal cues alone.
- Intensity: It’s All in Your Hands – I learned that I don’t always have to push and pull with my palms. Sometimes, a gentle slice through the water is enough.
- Impact: Grounded, Neutral, Rebound – Watching the trailer first helps me focus on listening rather than looking at a screen.
- Kicking Cardio Core – I struggled with jogging in all directions in my small pool, but I know I can adapt.
- One-Step Ahead – My favorite! Staggering my feet helped me find my “feel-good” position in the water.

A New Connection with Equipment—and Myself
Through this challenge, I started using my equipment differently, and it changed everything.
- Water Shoes – I’ve always needed supportive footwear, and the H2Owear Aqua Vibe Water Shoes have been a game changer. Now, I even slide my foot along the pool bottom to extend my toes—something I’d never do barefoot!
- Gloves – The biggest difference for me. I move slower, stronger, and more intentionally. Relaxing my hands brings my heart rate down, and my favorite movement? Figure 8 sculling.
- Small Hand Buoys – They feel like an extension of my body. The oversized grip is comfortable, and instead of fatigue, my hands feel stronger after each workout.
More Than a Workout—A Mindset Shift
The biggest lesson? Movement isn’t just about exercise. It’s about creating space for play, relaxation, and self-discovery.
After a hectic week of travel and family events, I found myself drawn back to the water—not for a structured workout, but just to float, kick, and play. That moment reminded me…
It’s not about being perfect.
It’s about feeling good.
The Journey Ahead
In just 30 days, I’ve found strength in simplicity, confidence in movement, and a renewed excitement to keep going. My path forward isn’t about checking boxes or following a rigid plan—it’s about listening to my body, trying new things, and celebrating every small victory.
For me, that means getting in the water, moving with intention, and embracing the journey—one workout at a time.
